Golf Ball Over Hole

The Must-See Sky Golf Events of 2026

There’s something about the start of a new golf season that’s always exciting. New storylines. New rivalries. Players chasing redemption. Others defending titles.

While we don’t have the Ryder Cup to enjoy this year, there’s no shortage of intriguing storylines to look forward to throughout 2026. Can Rory McIlroy continue his stunning form? Will Scottie Scheffler still be the man to beat? And which players will claim their first major?

Whether you’re a lifelong golf addict or you’re keen to explore the world of birdies and bogies for the first time, the good news is that you’ll be able to catch all the biggest events and best moments live on Sky.

Let’s take a look at what’s coming up and the key events you won’t want to miss. Plus, I’ll share how you can keep up with everything, even when you’re outside the country, with Sky Stream.

The Players Championship: 12th-15th March

The road to the majors really begins in March with The Players Championship, and there’s no way to get the season properly underway.

If The Masters is elegance, The Players is pure nerves.

Played at TPC Sawgrass, this is the one with the island green, the iconic 17th hole that can turn a comfortable lead into a disaster in seconds. It doesn’t matter how experienced a player is, you can see the tension when they step up to that tee.

It’s often called the “fifth major”. And when you watch the strength of the field and the atmosphere around that closing stretch, it’s easy to see why. There’s drama baked into the course design, and it makes for edge-of-your-seat viewing every single year.

The Masters: 6th-12th April

Every April, the golfing world turns its attention to Augusta National Golf Club, and I think it’s fair to say there’s nothing else that quite compares to it

The Masters has an unmistakable feel to it. The perfectly cut fairways. The azaleas in full bloom. The quiet intensity of the back nine on Sunday. And then there’s Amen Corner, three holes that have broken hearts and created legends in equal measure.

Last year, Rory McIlroy claimed a memorable victory, narrowly defeating Justin Rose in a dramatic playoff to earn his first green jacket. The win meant he completed the career Grand Slam he’d long been waiting for, and ended his 11-year wait for a fifth major title.

Will the popular Irishman claim victory again in 2026? Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure: The Masters is one you definitely won’t want to miss this year.

PGA Championship: 11th-17th May

The PGA Championship always feels slightly unpredictable, and that’s what makes it compelling viewing.

Unlike The Masters, it moves around to different courses, which means new challenges, new storylines and often a surprise contender making a serious run. In 2026, the PGA Championship will be held at the Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania. It’ll be only the second time the club has hosted this tournament, having previously hosted in 1962.

As it’s one of golf’s four majors, the stakes are sky high. Careers are defined here. Breakthroughs happen here. And more often than not, the final round delivers something memorable.

Last year, Scottie Scheffler won a memorable first PGA Championship and his third major by five strokes over Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English and Davis Riley. But who will take home the Wanamaker Trophy in 2026?

The US Open: 15th-21st June

The US Open has quite the reputation, and it’s fully deserved.

This is golf at its toughest. Think narrow fairways, punishing rough and greens that seem determined to reject even good shots. Watching the world’s best players grind their way around a US Open setup is compelling in a completely different way to the birdie-fests you sometimes see at some of the other events listed.

It’s not always pretty and it’s not always low-scoring. But it is gripping. When someone comes through that test and lifts the trophy, you know they’ve earned every single shot.

J.J Spaun was victorious in 2025 with a score of 1-under par to claim his first major championship title. But he’ll likely face stiff competition from Scheffler, McIlroy, Koepka and more as he aims to go back-to-back in 2026.

The Open Championship: 13th-19th July

And last but by no means least, there’s The Open. The oldest and, for many golf fans, the most special of them all.

Set to be played at Royal Birkdale in Southport in 2026, The Open is golf in its purest form. Coastal winds, unpredictable weather, firm fairways and imagination required on almost every shot. It’s always a treat to watch the world’s best players shaping the ball, adapting on the fly, thinking their way around the course.

When the winner lifts the Claret Jug, it always feels like they’ve joined a very exclusive club, part of golf’s living history. Last year, it was Scottie Scheffler who secured his place among the all-time greats with a sensational victory at Royal Portrush. You’d have to be brave to bet against him doing it again this time around.
