The Simpsons

Sky One is Back, and It’s Bigger than Ever

Here’s a question for you: do you remember 1989?

It was a big year for plenty of reasons. Tim Berners-Lee had just invented the World Wide Web, the Nintendo Game Boy was the console to have, and we were introduced to the very yellow residents of Springfield for the first time.

But arguably even more momentous than all of that (okay, we might be slightly biased) was the launch of Sky One. Over the years, it became home to some of the most beloved shows and series on British TV. And now in 2026, it’s back and set to pick up right from where it left off.

Here’s why we’re excited, and why we think you should be, too. Read on to learn everything you need to know and how you can watch your favourites, even from outside the UK.

It’s official, Sky One is back from 2026

If you weren’t around in 1989, here’s a quick recap: the channel launched with a lot of fanfare back then, and for good reason. Sky One was the place to watch some of the best TV the world had to offer, from the likes of The Simpsons and Lost to An Idiot Abroad. And who can forget that emotional Friends reunion episode in 2021?!

Later that same year, Sky made the decision to retire the iconic name. Sky One was replaced with Sky Showcase. But now, after a five year pause, the channel is back again in 2026 and promises more of the same unmissable TV.

So what can you expect? Quite simply, an incredible schedule of new and returning comedy and entertainment shows the whole family will love. Think Rob & Romesh Vs, The Paper and Ted, plus The Dyers’ Caravan Park and the eagerly anticipated Saturday Night Live UK.

If that all sounds like your thing, the good news is that you don’t have long to wait. Sky One returns on Tuesday 24th February, on Channel 106 for Sky Stream, Sky Glass, and Sky Q customers.

Don’t miss a moment. Watch all your Sky One favourites, even from outside the country

Of course, you might not always be at home to catch all the great content coming up on Sky One, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out.

Whether you’re planning a holiday to soak up some Sydney sun or travelling to the US for work, you can still tune in from anywhere in the world. How? Through the magic of Sky Stream.

Sky Stream pairs the Sky Stream puck with a plug-and-play VPN router that’s pre-configured and ready out of the box. That’s all you need to watch Sky abroad exactly as if you were back in the UK. No dish, no faff, no complicated tech setups. Just plug in, connect and start streaming worldwide.

So whether you’re looking forward to SNL UK or Gemma Collins: Four Weddings and a Baby is more your thing, sit back and get comfy. From Europe to the Middle East or even out of sea, Sky Stream has you covered with smooth, secure, UK-based streaming, no matter where you’re located.
